This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new support team for ‘Andy’. There are currently part time positions available for before and after school and school holidays. In time, Andy’s support package will likely grow with the opportunity for support staff to work night shifts and weekends.

Job Type: Part time, current vacancy for 2 staff each working 30 hours per week.
Regular Term Time (39 weeks per year)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 06:30 – 09:30
Thursday – 06:30 – 11:30
Friday – 06:30 – 12:30
School Holidays (13 weeks per year)
Monday to Friday – 14:30 – 21:30
Weekends – 07.00 – 21.00 (6-hour shift between these times)

Summary:
Andy is a delightful eleven-year-old boy who resides with his family in Sudbury, Suffolk. Due to an acquired brain injury, Andy has cerebral palsy, visual impairment, reflux, and associated feeding difficulties. Andy uses a wheelchair and requires full assistance with personal care. Andy requires medication daily; he cannot tolerate food or fluids orally and is dependent on a feeding tube.
Andy requires enthusiastic and caring support staff who can assist him with his rehabilitation programme, engaging with the local community and ultimately having a lot of fun. He has a wonderful sense of humour and brings joy to everyone he meets.

Andy loves listening to music and his favourite shows on YouTube. He enjoys playing with sensory toys and being in the garden at home. Andy has special tricycle which attaches to his wheelchair. With support and encouragement, Andy is trying out new experiences such as a youth club for children with complex needs and a soft play session at the local leisure centre. Andy is a full-time student at the local special school and thoroughly enjoys attending.
Andy’s support workers will need to work in proximity with his parents and siblings and be able to develop a positive relationship with them. Experience of working in a family home would be beneficial
