Part time vacancies on a small friendly team for a support worker for contracted hours.
Vacancy one: Working one weekend per month, Friday 8.00am – Monday 8.00am (72 hours), this includes sleep-in shifts overnight from midnight.
Vacancy Two: One 24-hour shift every Monday, 8.00am – Tuesday 8.00am. Please note sleep-ins are from 11.00pm – 7.00am weeknights.
These vacancies can be split between 2 or 3 part-time staff and additional hours may also be available to cover annual leave.
About Us
Ben Holden Limited provides specialist services to both adults and children living with long-term disabilities. We support our clients with recruitment, supervision and management of staff, who then work solely with them, usually in their own homes, with our on-going support.
Job Summary
This post is within a small friendly established team who provide 24/7 support to our client within her own home and the local community.
Within this team, staff generally work 24-hour shifts from 8.00am to 8.00am. The shift usually has a period of overlap with the last staff member to allow for a short handover before commencing on shift.
At the present time there is a vacancy on the team for the weekend shift one working weekend per month, Friday 8.00am – Monday 8.00am (72 hours) and also for regular Mondays 8.00am Monday – Tuesday 8.00 am (24 hours)
Pay
- £11.00 per hour – for weekdays
- £12.50 per hour – for weekends
- £7.34 per hour sleeper duty – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night (between 11.00pm and 8.00am)
- £7.34 per hour sleeper duty – Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights (between Midnight and 8.00am)
All pay rates are reviewed annually.

- 5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro rata. The leave year runs from January to December.

Key roles and responsibilities
- Providing companionship and a light-hearted friendly approach .
- All personal care including washing, dressing, skin, teeth, nail and hair care. Client directs her own care.
- Assisting with mobility, including assisting to transfer using stand aid equipment – all training will be provided.
- Encourage active participation in all areas of household management including housework, laundry, and meal planning, shopping and meal preparation.
- Encouragement and assistance with therapy regimes. There is a programme of exercises that the support team need to help the client with; this includes hydrotherapy sessions and home-based physiotherapy exercises.
- Promoting purposeful, structured time both at home and in the community as well as supporting her with her leisure and social activities.
- Transporting client in her own vehicle and provide some support with mobility needs within the home.
- Providing assistance at night if needed.
- Supporting with the care of her friendly and well-trained dog.
- Accompanying on weekends away and holidays, although this is not essential.
- Accompanying to medical or other appointments.

Qualifications and Skills
- Full driving licence and confidence to drive a larger wheelchair accessible vehicle.
- Willingness to learn and/or already possess some experience and knowledge of cerebral palsy and working with adults.
- The client has a positive attitude to life and likes to get out and about in her local community and wider afield. She likes staff to be able to have fun with her and laugh with her and also respect her need for private time.
- Experience of lone working in the community and in clients’ own homes is an advantage but not essential.
- Availability to work 24-hour shifts which include sleep in time.
- Use of safe manual handling practice with people with disabilities or willingness to learn.
- Flexible approach to working hours, shift patterns and support.
- Resourceful, reliable and organised personality with excellent time keeping.
