Job Summary
JS is a young man who sustained a brain injury as a child. JS is very active and loves to spend time outdoors. JS is pleasant, sociable and enjoys company. He has a small dog and likes to take her for walks.
JS has completed an NVQ level 2 in Agriculture and he now enjoys supported voluntary work on an arable and livestock farm on a weekly basis, as well as volunteering in other work replacement activities in the community. JS has an interest in engines and owns his own engine as well as his own tractors, which he drives on the farm. JS also enjoys driving other vehicles on private land when he is able to.
This role specifically involves supporting JS when doing his work replacement activities on the farm. You will be working alongside him, helping him with practical tasks and prompting him about health and safety or practical matters as required. This post will suit someone who is practically minded, has experience of working outdoors and is passionate about supporting independence with others!
Regular tasks involved in this role include: Working with and taking care of livestock and birds. Driving and operating tractors (training can be provided if needed), general maintenance and tasks required, E.g; digging, repairing fencing, cutting trees/brambles, building animal pens, moving items around the farm and many other practical tasks. The role involves working with machines, tools, chemicals and animal food and waste.
Hours:
Tuesdays 8:15 – 4:30, Thursdays 8:15 – 3:30, Fridays 8:15 – 2:00
(approx. 21 hours per week)
