Ben qualified as an OT in Australia in 1998 and has worked in all areas of the rehabilitation process: intensive care, inpatient, outpatient, transitional living, community, vocational and case management. He has worked in the public and private sectors in Australia and the UK. Ben specialises in working with adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI) but also has experience with other conditions including amputations and polytrauma.

In the UK, Ben initially held a permanent Neuro-OT position at management level on an NHS inpatient neurological rehabilitation centre of excellence in London, supervising many professional staff and assistants. Following this, he worked with a private brain injury case management company in Suffolk.
Ben’s case load now tends to be comprised of young adult males with TBI with the most complex of presentations including: extremely challenging neuro-behaviours, mental health issues and complex cognitive impairment.
Since starting the company in 2009, he has maintained a caseload of catastrophic cases, in addition to the role of Managing Director.
Ben has provided professional services internationally in: Australia, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Lithuania, Greece, France, Poland and the Czech Republic. In particular, Ben has a well-established and trusted network of clinical contacts based in Poland.

Since qualifying as an OT in 1995 Lisa has gained a wealth of experience in clinical and senior managerial roles both in the NHS and private settings.
During her career she has gained a wealth of experience managing complex caseloads. Her experience spans a variety of diagnoses and clinical settings such as neurorehabilitation (TBI, disorders of consciousness, spinal injury and progressive neurological conditions) orthopaedic rehabilitation (amputation, trauma injuries, planned surgery), psychiatry (acute and chronic diagnoses), day services for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and palliative care.
She provided assessment, goal orientated rehabilitation and complex discharge planning which included equipment provision and tailoring care packages to those aiming to return home from their admission.
During her NHS career she provided senior clinical support and supervision and was the OT clinical lead at the stroke unit in Finchley Memorial Hospital, London and provided rehabilitation clinical support at Potters Bar Community Hospital. She completed the Certificate and Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) at Barnet College and also the D32 and D33 NVQ Assessor Award in Health Care and assessed NVQ level 2 and 3 students.
In 2003 Lisa took a case management position at a London based case management and rehabilitation company. She assumed lead role for OT within the company, providing clinical support and advice to other case managers and maintaining relationships with all the key stakeholders. She carried out functional assessments and immediate needs assessments of people who had suffered catastrophic and life changing injuries, travelling the country to do so. She was also responsible for the sales and marketing activity for the company. Following a career break to raise her family, Lisa joined Ben Holden Ltd resuming her position as a highly skilled case manager in 2015.
Lisa continues to manage a caseload of complex injuries working under both single and joint instruction during litigation and with Court of Protection teams post-settlement.
She is highly experienced in providing quality immediate needs assessments, tailoring comprehensive goal orientated rehabilitation, monitoring progress and adapting the rehabilitation to change.
Lisa has comprehensive knowledge about directly recruiting and managing support staff in both small and large support teams.
She currently holds a position on the senior clinical management team at Ben Holden Ltd and is a clinical mentor for other team members. Lisa regularly presents as part of Ben Holden Ltd’s schedule of internal training and has also presented as a guest speaker at conference.
She is currently in the process of enhancing her career further by undertaking training in functional capacity evaluation and in April 2024 became an advanced practitioner with BABICM.
Outside of Ben Holden Ltd, Lisa provides medico-legal expert reports in the areas of Care, Occupational Therapy and Equipment reports.

Tom qualified as a SLT in 2004 after completing a PGDip in Speech & Language Therapy at City University, London. Prior to this, Tom had gained a BA(Hons) in Linguistics from The University of Luton.
Tom worked in the NHS for almost 11 years gaining experience in both acute and community settings. Caseloads included progressive neurological conditions, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and he was involved in the development of a new stroke and neurological rehabilitation service at St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.
Tom left the NHS in 2015 to start independent practice as a SLT, providing assessment and rehabilitation to clients following acquired brain injury. This included working with clients with TBI at The Jacobs Centre and The Gardens in Hertfordshire.
Tom has also worked as a case manager since 2015, where he predominantly works with adults with TBI but is willing to work with juvenile clients too.
Tom has extensive experience working with this dynamic client group, establishing and coordinating highly complex rehabilitation programmes. This has also included overseeing the success of treatment programmes through regular contact with therapists and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Tom has also worked alongside statutory services and has established working relationships with primary healthcare, community mental health services and charity services such as Headway.
Tom has also successfully supported clients to apply for benefits, including Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments. Where these were initially unsuccessful, Tom has supported clients in the completion of mandatory reconsideration and through the appeal process to a successful outcome.
Tom has recently commenced a full time, permanently employed Clinical Services Manager role at Ben Holden Ltd where the focus will be on improving and maintaining clinical quality across the Company.

Sonia has worked in the field of health and social care since 2006, in a range of settings including a secure unit for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act and as manager of a small, supported living service. Sonia’s seven years with the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust in one of their local residential services is where her understanding and interest in the unique needs of those affected by acquired brain injury began.
Sonia has a strong belief in the positive impact high-quality person-centred care can have on the lives of individuals affected by illness and disability and believes this care must be underpinned by high quality management and effective communication.
Sonia has worked in Case Management since 2015, and as Registered Manager to the service since 2018, the service was rated as ‘outstanding’ by the CQC. Sonia believes that being able to evidence compliance with high standards set by the CQC, and the subsequent inspections and ratings by an external body allow members of the public and other stakeholders to be able to compare services as well as give confidence to clients, their families and their staff that they will be well supported, and we will always have robust systems to work in the best interests of the client.

Predominantly Vic’s case management experience is working with children and young people providing bespoke case management for children with a variety of conditions including brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal injury, amputee, and other complex disabilities. Vic also regularly provides case management for adults with neurological conditions and polytrauma.
After graduating from the University of Derby in 2002, Vic worked in a variety of hospital and community settings, gaining experience in several areas including stroke, hand therapy and splinting, rheumatology, wheelchair provision and neurological rehabilitation. Vic developed a special interest in neurological rehabilitation, whilst working in a community setting. Vic’s case management career to date has continued to build upon her passion in neurological rehabilitation with children and young people, ensuring all areas of need are addressed and co-ordinated, including housing, education, transitions, multidisciplinary therapy teams and care and support both pre and post settlement of personal injury and clinical negligence awards.
Vic has highly developed specialist clinical and managerial skills in the areas of rehabilitation, goal setting, treatment planning and major housing adaptations. After graduating from Brunel University College in 1995, Jo worked in a variety of hospital
and community settings, before specialising in neurology and neurological rehabilitation, initially at Rivermead Rehabilitation Centre in Oxford, where she specialised in complex neuro-disability and rehabilitation; then in the community in East Cambridgeshire, working with a wide range of neurology clients in a wide range of settings. She worked for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) between 2005 and 2011 in a residential neuro-behavioural rehabilitation unit specialising in working with clients with acquired brain injuries where she managed the physiotherapy service, worked as part of the senior clinical and management team in addition to having a full clinical case load.
Jo’s case management career to date has continued to build upon her passion for neurological rehabilitation and she is committed to ensuring that all areas of need are addressed and co-ordinated. Jo has highly developed specialist clinical and managerial skills in the areas management assessment and from this in supporting clients and their families to identify realistic goals and researching resources to achieve those goals. Jo has a particular interest in working with clients who have complex physical, cognitive and behavioural consequences post brain injury, clients with extensive poly-trauma and those who have further rehabilitation needs. She has experience of managing large 24-hour care teams and large housing adaptation projects and is also experienced in working with amputees in both the acute hospital and rehabilitation settings and is therefore well placed to support from a case management perspective.
Jo is an advanced member of BABICM, member of CMSUK and Jo was awarded CMSUK’s Catastrophic Case Manager of the Year award in 2019.

Margaret graduated from the University of Lancaster in 1995 with a degree in History and then spent a year in China teaching English to medical students. On her return to the UK, she worked in a variety of roles in publishing and administration.
Margaret later retrained as a secondary school teacher at the University of East Anglia and taught History for a few years before gaining a secretarial and training role as Visitor Officer and PA to the Public Relations Manager at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Redundancy led her to undertake formal training to enhance her secretarial and administration skills and she completed an Executive PA Diploma. Margaret entered the world of Case Management in 2015 and has gained considerable non-clinical experience in both case management and expert witness work. She now brings this specialist knowledge to Ben Holden Ltd.
Margaret is a qualified First Aider at Work.
Personal Summary
In her spare time, Margaret enjoys long, countryside rides on her pony Theo, and reading history and travel books. In the last few years she has taken up running (slowly!) in an attempt to ward off middle age.

Since qualifying as a registered sick children’s nurse in 2003, Zoe has gained considerable experience in working with children and young people with complex needs and their families. Prior to commencing her role as case manager in 2019, Zoe had worked in hospice, hospital, and educational settings. Zoe is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex neurological and life limiting conditions. She has strong and consolidated management and leadership skills, having worked as a deputy service manager at a local children’s hospice prior to becoming a case manager.
Zoe completed her RSCN training at Southbank University London, her teaching hospital was Great Ormond Street, an international centre of excellence for child healthcare. On completing her training, Zoe worked on the international patient’s unit at Great Ormond Street, working closely with interpreters on their neurology and oncology ward.
Whilst working at a local children’s hospice Zoe took responsibility for the management of a large multidisciplinary team, as well as coordinating care packages, adhering to Care Quality Commission Guidelines and managing a clinical caseload.
Predominantly, Zoe’s case management experience is working with children and young people, providing bespoke case management for clients with a variety of conditions such a hypoxic birth injury, spinal injury, polytrauma and other complex disabilities. Zoe works with clients and their families both pre and post settlement of personal injury and medical negligence awards. Zoe is involved in all aspects of the case management role and is highly experienced in the coordination of services and professional teams as well as the recruitment and line management of support staff.
Syd is a very important member of our team and has a very calming influence around the office. He is always friendly affectionate, happy to meet people, relaxed and loves everyone.
Syd enjoys being chauffeured to and from his place of work by his hooman, Ben, as it allows him time to contemplate his demanding day ahead.

Susan has been working predominantly as a therapy assistant with individuals with brain injury since 1999. This has been across hospital inpatient, outpatient and community settings, often being involved from initial injury to rehabilitation at home. Susan has worked within multidisciplinary team settings, assisting therapists with a range of programmes including home exercises and upper limb support groups, linking with external agencies including Headway and the Stroke Association. Susan was also involved with assessing and ordering equipment for home use and carrying out therapeutic intervention as guided by the therapists.
Susan has also researched and facilitated a brain injury support group working with people looking to return to work following traumatic or acquired brain injury.
Susan has worked as a mentor with people with communication difficulties as a result of brain injury.
Susan has also worked for numerous years in the community providing domiciliary care for individuals requiring mechanical ventilator support.
Susan has previously worked as an assistant case manager, supporting case managers with all aspects of services to adults and children with catastrophic conditions.

Carmen’s background is special educational needs. She previously worked at a local pre-school for over seven years, initially started as a parent volunteer and worked her way up through the team and in 2018 completed her level three early years educator qualification. From here she became the deputy manager and health and safety officer for the pre-school.
Carmen is used to working with multi-disciplinary teams including health visitors, psychologists and speech therapists. She has vast experience and knowledge of working with children with special educational needs.

Helen is an experienced RNLD nurse with over 8 years’ experience as a case manager. Helen’s experience in case management has focused upon working with both children/young people and adults with an acquired or traumatic brain injury, epilepsy and complex health needs. Helen has provided case management supervision and direct line management to large 24-hour teams of support workers and personal assistants.
After graduating from Homerton College of Health Studies in Cambridge in 1999, Helen worked in a range of NHS hospital and community nursing settings supporting people with learning disabilities supporting people with a learning disability to access health services. She was also involved in teaching and training support staff in vital health related training to support workers, such as epilepsy awareness and safe administration of buccal midazolam, so that they could provide safe and consistent care.
In 2007 Helen worked as an operational manager for Thera East Anglia, a charity that supports people with a learning disability to live in their own homes with support. It was here that Helen line managed team leaders and support teams to ensure that they provided high quality, safe and consistent support to the people that they support.
Helen’s case management career continued to build upon supporting and managing large 24-hour support teams and providing epilepsy awareness and safe administration of buccal midazolam training and supporting this process with bespoke support plans and risk assessments. Helen works very closely with the Registered Manager to ensure that all support provided is compliant with CQC KLOE’s and domiciliary care guidelines.
Helen has also supported people to access rehabilitation and community-based therapy and supporting her clients to investigate and achieve realistic goals. She has also completed large housing adaptation projects working alongside Occupational Therapists, Architects, Builders and Tradesmen and Project Managers to achieve accessible and person centred results.

Marian is a Registered Nurse who has worked predominantly with individuals with spinal injuries since 1984. Marian has worked in both specialist spinal and brain injury centres, from the admission process to delivering acute care to the spinal injured ventilated person. Marian also has extensive experience working in the field of rehabilitation. Marian worked as a case manager within a spinal injuries unit liaising with the community healthcare professionals to facilitate safe and timely discharges.
Marian has also worked for numerous years in the community providing domiciliary care for individuals with brain and spinal injuries and with clients requiring mechanical ventilator support.
Marian has also worked for a number of years nursing individuals who had sustained multiple traumatic orthopaedic injuries.

Since qualifying as a registered sick children’s nurse in 2003, Zoe has gained considerable experience in working with children and young people with complex needs and their families. Prior to commencing her role as case manager in 2019, Zoe had worked in hospice, hospital, and educational settings. Zoe is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex neurological and life limiting conditions. She has strong and consolidated management and leadership skills, having worked as a deputy service manager at a local children’s hospice prior to becoming a case manager.
Zoe completed her RSCN training at Southbank University London, her teaching hospital was Great Ormond Street, an international centre of excellence for child healthcare. On completing her training, Zoe worked on the international patient’s unit at Great Ormond Street, working closely with interpreters on their neurology and oncology ward.
Whilst working at a local children’s hospice Zoe took responsibility for the management of a large multidisciplinary team, as well as coordinating care packages, adhering to Care Quality Commission Guidelines and managing a clinical caseload.
Predominantly, Zoe’s case management experience is working with children and young people, providing bespoke case management for clients with a variety of conditions such a hypoxic birth injury, spinal injury, polytrauma and other complex disabilities. Zoe works with clients and their families both pre and post settlement of personal injury and medical negligence awards. Zoe is involved in all aspects of the case management role and is highly experienced in the coordination of services and professional teams as well as the recruitment and line management of support staff.

Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2008, Mell has gained considerable experience in the field of occupational therapy and case management. She spent her early career working in social services, supporting clients with equipment and adaptation needs, as well as providing a supervisory role to other qualified staff. Mell has been working as a case manager for eight years and has considerable experience in working with adults with brain injuries, spinal injuries and polytrauma.
Mell provides support to adults who have sustained complex and life changing injuries to rebuild their lives and maximise their potential for independence. Mell works with clients both pre- and post-settlement of personal injury and medical negligence awards and has a sound knowledge of the litigation process. She is experienced in report writing, preparing immediate needs assessments and regular update reports for her clients. Mell is proficient in client led goal setting and review; leading the multi-disciplinary team to work together towards goal attainment for the client.
Mell is experienced in the bespoke recruitment, management, supervision and appraisal of staff teams and is able to identify when this is the most suitable approach for a client. Mell is able to work with statutory services to explore funding available and has a good understanding of statutory processes.
Occupational Therapy intervention focused on complex equipment solutions for clients is a special interest of Mell’s. Mell also has extensive experience in dealing with matters of a safeguarding nature and is able to effectively support vulnerable clients during difficult experiences.
Mell is a confident, outgoing and hardworking individual who has a strong passion for supporting people to lead an independent and fulfilling life. She has an excellent rapport with clients, families, support workers, other professionals and Solicitors. Mell has a calm and practical approach to finding solutions to complex situations.

Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist at University of East Anglia in 2009, Ellie has gained considerable experience in the field of neuro Case Management and Occupational Therapy. She has worked in both the charity and private sector and as a result has experience in supporting clients and services with varying financial backgrounds, in accessing professional support, therapy, activity, equipment and housing for example.
For the past 10 years Ellie has worked as a case manager and occupational therapist, for individuals with brain injury including cerebral palsy, spinal injury, and polytrauma, with varying levels of function from adults in minimally conscious states requiring high levels of support and care, through to those living independently and in paid employment with light touch support. As such, she has a wealth of experience in working with other services including education, employers, and statutory services, striving to work collaboratively with them to promote excellent communication, and maximize opportunity for quality outcomes for the client.
Ellie works with clients and their families both pre and post settlement of medical negligence or personal injury awards and is experienced in report writing both in producing immediate needs assessments and regular progress reports on her clients. She has recruited and led staff teams including large teams working 24/7, adhering to Care Quality Commission guidelines. She has an excellent understanding of goal setting and enabling the client and staff teams to engage and lead in the goal setting process to identify achievable targets. She also regularly works to address equipment and housing needs in her capacity as an Occupational Therapist, and in developing and delivering bespoke support staff training. These shared skills and experiences, developed through working a dual role for 10 years, enable her to have a breadth of knowledge in complex care.
Ellie’s special interest is in cognitive and vocational rehabilitation. Her passion is in supporting clients to find the activities and occupations that fulfil them and bring a sense of wellbeing to their day to day lives, whilst developing their functional skills and abilities affected by injury. This may be through direct therapy sessions in her role as Occupational Therapist, or in leading, sourcing and working collaboratively as a case manager in a multi-disciplinary team to identify, risk assess and enable engagement. Ellie feels strongly about client-centered working and employing a solution focused approach to complex issues.
Ellie is a calm, confident and hardworking individual who has a strong passion for advocacy and well-being. Ellie develops excellent rapport with clients, families, support workers and other professionals, and offers flexibility and a considered approach to problems, to find the right solutions.
Skills & Experience Summary
Kat qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2004 from the Manchester School of Physiotherapy. Kat has gained experience in all areas of acute and community physiotherapy over the past 18 years. She developed her interest in neurological rehabilitation whilst working at several London Teaching Hospitals providing neuro rehab within critical care, inpatient neurology and outpatient neurology. During her time within the NHS Kat was appointed as Team Lead for Medicine and Oncology services, which involved supervising a large team of physiotherapists and therapy assistants, alongside close working with Service Leads, bed management and discharge services.
Further pursuing her interest in neurorehabilitation, Kat moved into the independent sector in 2013, providing community neurorehabilitation to adults following TBI/ABI, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury and stroke predominantly. During this time, she was frequently appointed by Case Managers to provide rehabilitation services for their clients, gaining experience within this sector and working closely with case managers and other professionals to optimise a clients’ potential.
Whilst working within the independent sector Kat also became highly experienced in the provision of adjuncts within neurological rehabilitation, such as Saebo orthoses, Functional Electrical Stimulation and has a good market knowledge of current products beneficial within physical neurorehabiilation.
Kat joined Ben Holden Ltd as an associate case manager in 2022 to continue working to support adults following catastrophic injury.

Christine is a qualified Social Worker and former Registered Nurse (Learning disabilities) who has been an active and qualified professional since 1987.
Christine has worked in Case Management since 2018 and in that time has supported a number of clients with complex traumatic brain injury and associated learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism, dementia and behaviours which could challenge. Christine established rehabilitation programs and coordinated multi professional teams working alongside care teams including agencies and directly employed personnel.
Christine has considerable experience working with families and support networks to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs and plans for longer term support needs. She promotes and champions a collaborative approach based on capacity and agreement, to ensure person centered and holistic outcomes.
Christine has spent her substantiable career working across a number of social care and health settings and gained significant experience relevant to case management. This has included generic social work and specialist nursing which involved complex case work with adults who have brain injury, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, neurological and long-term health conditions, addiction, mental health issues, hearing loss, Deaf communities, and those with aging needs and dementia. She has worked in semi secure hospital settings and has knowledge and experience of developing positive behavior support plans and strategies around behavior which can be challenging.
Christine most enjoys working with vulnerable adults in the community and she is highly experienced with supporting clients to live as independently as possible whilst maximising their strengths and abilities. Christine is skilled in supporting clients to identify goals and ambitions and developing plans for achievement. This is supported by her sound knowledge and experience of ‘Person Centered Planning’ and utilising associated tools.
Christine also has considerable knowledge and experience regarding Care Act assessments and reviews, adult safeguarding investigations, and Mental Capacity assessments. Examples of her assessments have included areas such as managing finances, consent to treatment, accommodation and tenancy arrangements. Christine has also worked as a senior manager in a care agency and has extensive experience in supporting capacity in respect of everyday decisions, care planning and managing complex risks. She also has extensive experience of recruiting, developing and managing support teams which promote personalised care, and maximise choice and control for clients.
Christine also has knowledge and experience of successfully supporting adults to move from long stay hospitals, and large residential homes into community settings. She has worked with continuing health care assessors to secure joint funding arrangements with social care and secured personal budgets which enable choice and flexibility for support arrangements.

Since qualifying as a Nurse in 2002, Martin has gained a broad experience in the field of healthcare. He has worked in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), and a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
Martin has been working as a Brain Injury Case Manager since 2006. In that period, he has worked with a range of adults with complex trauma and disabilities, both neurological and other conditions. Martin has been a member of British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers since 2006 and achieved Advanced Level status in 2011. Martin has held positions of case manager, senior case manager, and clinical team lead.
Martin has worked predominantly with brain injured clients but has also supported others with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), spinal cord injury (SCI), amputation and polytrauma. Martin has worked with some clients on a short-term basis to achieve quick rehabilitation goals, and in other cases it has been longer term, setting up multiple person Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) and directly recruited support packages. Martin is experienced in working alongside all branches of professionals and clinicians, in both private and statutory sectors.
Being a brain injury case manager brings with it a need to be able to work with people from all backgrounds, cultures, and identities. One of Martin’s driving factors in this line of work is enabling clients to identify their own goals and support them to achieve a greater sense of independence and wellbeing.
Prior to joining Ben Holden Ltd., Lizzie had nearly 6 years experience as a Brain Injury Case Manager and worked as a Senior Case Manager providing supervision and mentorship to her fellow colleagues. Lizzie was proud to achieve the BABICM advanced registered practitioner in 2021.
Lizzie has experience of working with a wide variety of people; from those needing a very high amount of care and support, to the other end of the spectrum where a person may need a very light touch approach. Lizzie enjoys being a case manager and is passionate in supporting adults to become as independent as possible to achieve their goals. Lizzie also enjoys supporting clients to manage their care teams and the complexities this often brings.
Lizzie is a qualified social worker and before moving into case management she worked as a social worker and senior social worker within Essex County Council.
Lizzie is skilled at managing a complex caseload and has experience of supporting people with a wide range of disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury, and polytrauma. Lizzie has experience of supporting adults and their families throughout the litigation process, and once their case has settled.
Lizzie is passionate at ensuring she is approachable, responsive, non-judgemental and effective in her role.
Maria has accumulated over 30 years of extensive nursing, case management and senior management experience both in the NHS and the private sector. She has provided clinical expertise and professional leadership to other multi-disciplinary team members as well as working independently to complete and produce client needs reports.
She is a highly experienced case manager, having worked extensively with clients who have sustained a range of injuries, including catastrophic and life changing injuries, those resulting from traumatic accidents or clinical negligence, and those living with long term conditions. She is highly skilled in areas of management and assessment, from completing an immediate needs assessment through to supporting clients and their families to identify realistic and or achievable goals.
In the early years working with the NHS, Maria worked as ward sister in Potters Bar Hospital rehabilitation ward in 1994. She then joined Edgware Community Hospital in 1996 as a Senior Nurse Co-ordinator in a nurse led unit. Besides managing a team of highly skilled nurses, she also utilised her clinical skills to assess patients on admission and worked within agreed protocols for ordering blood tests and x ray investigations where necessary.
In 2005, Maria managed a team of clinical case managers at a London based private case management and rehabilitation company for four years. She provided clinical support and advice to other case managers and maintained relationships with key stakeholders.
In 2009, Maria re-joined the NHS, working as a stroke co-ordinator. She was a highly specialist practitioner supporting the care and management of stroke patients following their acute treatment in the hyper acute stroke unit. Maria worked closely with treating therapists, medical teams, social services and rehabilitation doctors in her patients’ rehabilitation and recovery journey.
In 2015, Maria led a team of NHS nurse assessors that carried out detailed health needs assessments and provided case management to those patients who meet the criteria for NHS funding. She has detailed understanding of the National Framework for NHS Continuing Health Care and practical experience of working within the guidelines. Maria has undertaken Mental Capacity Assessments, facilitated best interest meetings, made care need plans and completed paperwork for the Court of Protection to apply for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Maria has produced witness statements and or attended court hearings, when necessary, where there were Section 21a challenges. She worked closely with clients, their representatives, local authorities, respective solicitors and other relevant agencies as required.
During her career, Maria has completed nursing expert witness reports in the areas of negligence and care.

Since qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2013 Abigail has continued her learning by completing the MC Crudden ‘Lead by Example’ training course which has enabled her to develop new and enhanced leadership skills. She has also completed an Integrative Counselling Diploma at level 4 with a focus on psychodynamic, person centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Prior to commencing her role as a case manager in 2024 Abigail worked in the NHS and private health care settings for 10 years, gaining experience in both acute and psychiatric intensive care units and supporting in the community. Her case load was varied and provided an opportunity to work alongside children and young adults with a variety of mental health difficulties at varying stages ranging from depressive disorder to psychosis.
Abigail has robust experience in managing a large caseload of children across six different services. This has involved supporting the EHCP process, managing external agencies, facilitating the young person to design their own care plan tailored to their needs, and ensuring the child was receiving the appropriate care as outlined in NICE guidelines. Abigail has worked as a Safeguarding Advisor and Practice Development Lead. In addition, she has worked with the CQC as a specialist advisor inspecting various health care services, ranging from large NHS trusts to small independent rehabilitation units.
Abigail also has a specialist understanding of safeguarding adults and children as well as domestic abuse. She supported in the set-up of the Domestic Abuse Prevention Ambassadors (DAPA) in West London NHS Trust.
Abigail has extensive experience of establishing and coordinating highly complex packages of care. This has also included overseeing the success of treatment programmes through regular contact with therapists and the organisation of multidisciplinary team meetings. Abigail has also worked alongside statutory services and established working relationships with primary healthcare, community mental health services and various charities. This experience places her in a highly experienced position with transferrable skills as a case manager working with clients and their families both pre and post settlement of personal injury and medical negligence awards.
Abigail also has extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty (DoLs) or the soon to be Liberty Protection safeguards (LPS).

Since qualifying as a physiotherapist from the University of East Anglia in 2009, Emma has pursued her interests in neurology, spinal injury and musculoskeletal conditions. Emma has worked in a variety of settings within the NHS, private sector and sporting domains and remains most passionate about rehabilitation.
Emma’s recent case management experience includes working with clients with very complex orthopedic injuries, spinal injury, peripheral nerve injury, neurological injuries, brain injury, and bariatric clients for both unsettled and settled cases. Emma has worked with large multidisciplinary teams and has experience of recruiting and managing large 24-hour care teams.
Emma develops excellent rapport with her clients and their families and working relationships with professionals to ensure best outcome and a person-centred approach.

Dinuli completed her master’s degree in occupational therapy (OT) in 2020. Since starting her clinical career, she has gained valuable clinical experience working with individuals with a wide range of conditions across public, charitable, and independent sectors. Her expertise spans neurorehabilitation, complex discharge planning, housing adaptations, postural management, and supporting clients with diverse needs following brain injuries. Dinuli has gained significant experience within community settings, in a variety of sectors. She has worked with clients, families, services, and environments providing community care assessments, manual handling assessments, designing housing adaptations and prescribing bespoke assistive equipment.
Dinuli is skilled in conducting assessments, creating comprehensive rehabilitation plans, and producing detailed progress reports. She adopts a person-centred and holistic approach, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver goal-oriented rehabilitation, risk assessments, and complex discharge planning. This includes providing equipment and customising care packages for individuals transitioning from hospital to home. With experience managing and leading rehabilitation teams, Dinuli ensures adherence to best practices and statutory guidelines. She also excels in setting goals and collaboratively developing realistic, client-focused targets to achieve optimal outcomes.
Before transitioning to OT, Dinuli had a successful career in human resources (HR) and brings additional expertise in team management, recruitment, training, change management and leadership.

Callum has worked extensively in the retail management sector since 2003. Prior to that he completed a film and media degree at University Campus Suffolk.
Personal Summary
Callum enjoys writing and performing electronic music as part of the synth-pop duo act VortX, long walks in the countryside with the dog and arts and culture. Also, he has a keen interest in the starlets of the golden age of Hollywood, most notably Joan Crawford and Judy Garland!
David graduated in 1988 in Engineering and Business, he then went on and joined a management training programme with the biggest 3PL in Europe achieving a further Degree in Logistics and Business Strategy.
David then worked in the F1 arena working for Arrows and then for Maclaren F1 race teams. After leaving the F1 circuit and wanting to stay in the UK he then went to work for the MOD before moving to the Healthcare sector due to the project he was working on. He then joined a Diagnostic and Imaging company and grew it into one of the largest D&I privately owned companies in the UK.
David then started his own Radiology company specialising in mainland Europe, this company became one of the biggest independent private sector companies within 8 years and was acquired by a Major D&I provider.
David currently works as business consultant and Associate Accountant. working for SME companies.

Since qualifying with a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree specialising in Industrial Marketing, Market Research and Management Accounting in 1987, Barbara has worked in marketing, finance and accounts departments for a variety of businesses, including a case management company from 2017 to 2022.
She joined Ben Holden Ltd in 2022 and is an organised, hardworking member of the team, handling a variety of tasks as our Accounts Administrator.
Barbara has gained further qualifications during her career, achieving City & Guilds Level 1 Bookkeeping and Accounts in 2014 and AAT Accounting Diplomas Levels 3 and 4 in 2016.
Personal Summary
Barbara has a keen interest in plants and loves gardening (practical and sight-seeing). She also likes to keep fit and enjoys home cuisine and horse riding.

Margaret graduated from the University of Lancaster in 1995 with a degree in History and then spent a year in China teaching English to medical students. On her return to the UK, she worked in a variety of roles in publishing and administration.
Margaret later retrained as a secondary school teacher at the University of East Anglia and taught History for a few years before gaining a secretarial and training role as Visitor Officer and PA to the Public Relations Manager at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Redundancy led her to undertake formal training to enhance her secretarial and administration skills and she completed an Executive PA Diploma. Margaret entered the world of Case Management in 2015 and has gained considerable non-clinical experience in both case management and expert witness work. She now brings this specialist knowledge to Ben Holden Ltd.
Margaret is a qualified First Aider at Work.
Personal Summary
In her spare time, Margaret enjoys long, countryside rides on her pony Theo, and reading history and travel books. In recent years she has taken up running (slowly!) in an attempt to ward off middle age.
Kerry has spent 10 years in an administration role for a construction company, focusing on social housing. Kerry is highly motivated and organised with a positive approach and a ‘can do’ attitude. Her wide range of skills and attention to detail is put to good use at BHL.
Personal Summary
Kerry enjoys spending time with her young family and has a great love for all animals. Her ultimate goal and dream is to own her own menagerie.
Caroline is a conscientious professional with extensive experience in administration, PA and secretarial roles.
Caroline has worked in Case Management for nearly 20 years and is highly organised and efficient. Her thorough and precise approach has yielded excellent results.
I have been given a horse to look after which is difficult to manage and is stabled at a private yard where I have assisted the owners with their horses for 35 years, along with assisting with paddock maintenance and house sitting. I also go swimming, attend Zumba and Pilates classes and enjoy Latin dancing on a regular basis.
Nicky has worked extensively in the publishing industry since 1994, initially as a graphic designer and latterly as Studio Manager. Prior to that she completed a Graphic Design degree at Hull University.
Having purchased a rather neglected 1930s house and garden, Nicky is a self-taught and overly enthusiastic green-fingered individual. When not covered in earth and compost, Nicky loves to read books, watch films and go for long walks with her adoring husband, Steve.
BABICM, (the British Association of Brain Injury and Complex Case Management) is our professional body. At BHL we have several staff who are very involved with BABICM, namely Tom Miners and Vic Leever. Tom is on the Training and Education Group and Vic has several roles, she is an Advanced Member Assessor with BABICM, a member of their professional practice and membership group since 2016 and a member of the council since 2021. It should be noted that there is a related and relatively new organisation in our industry, and this is the Institute for registered Case Managers (IRCM). BHL is a proud supporter of the IRCM, and they are in a development process of becoming our regulatory body.
